End of TLS 1.0 & 1.1 Support in cPanel Version 132 – What You Need to Know

As part of the ongoing effort to improve security and strengthen server infrastructure, cPanel has officially dropped support for TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 starting from Version 132. These versions of TLS (Transport Layer Security) are considered outdated and vulnerable, and their removal is an important step toward safer communication between servers, websites, and users.

At Pamir Web Host, we are now upgrading all our servers to cPanel Version 132, ensuring stronger security, improved compatibility, and better performance for all customers.

What Are TLS 1.0 & TLS 1.1?

TLS is the protocol responsible for encrypting data transferred between your website and its visitors. It keeps information safe from interception, manipulation, and unauthorized access.

However:

  • TLS 1.0 was released in 1999
  • TLS 1.1 was released in 2006

Both versions lack modern cryptographic standards and are vulnerable to several attacks, including BEAST, POODLE, and downgrade exploits. As a result, security bodies like PCI-DSS, Google, Apple, and Mozilla have been pushing for their retirement.

Why TLS 1.0 & 1.1 Are No Longer Supported

cPanel version 132 fully removes these outdated protocols due to:

1️⃣ Security Risks

Older TLS versions cannot defend against modern cyberattacks, putting login credentials, payment information, and user data at risk.

2️⃣ Industry Compliance

Most industries now require TLS 1.2 or above, including:

  • Banking & Finance (PCI)
  • E-commerce
  • Government systems
  • Enterprise corporate infrastructure

3️⃣ Browser & App Compatibility

All major browsers have already ended support:
Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, Opera
Most APIs and third-party services also require TLS 1.2+.

What This Means for You

Most modern websites will continue working normally because TLS 1.2 and TLS 1.3 have been the default for years.

However, a few older systems may be affected:

🔸 Outdated mail clients

Thunderbird < 78
Outlook < 2016
Old mobile apps
Legacy POP3/IMAP clients

🔸 Very old scripts or CMS setups

Custom PHP apps older than 2014
Legacy API integrations
cURL libraries needing updates

🔸 Old operating systems

Windows XP / Vista
Android 4.x
Old Linux builds without OpenSSL updates

If you use any of the above, you may experience issues connecting via HTTPS, FTPs, or Email (IMAP/POP/SMTP) after TLS 1.0/1.1 removal.

We Are Upgrading All Servers to cPanel Version 132

To keep our platform secure and future-ready, Pamir Web Host is currently upgrading all cPanel servers to Version 132.

This upgrade brings:

  • Stronger encryption (TLS 1.2 and TLS 1.3 only)
  • Improved performance
  • Better stability
  • Enhanced compatibility with modern software
  • Improved security standards by default

We are rolling out the upgrade region by region, with minimal downtime expected.
Customers will be notified if any action is required on their end.

Do You Need to Do Anything?

In most cases, No — your website and email will continue to work normally.

However, you should update your systems if you use:

✔ Old Email Software

Upgrade to:

  • Outlook 2016+
  • Apple Mail 2018+
  • Thunderbird 78+

✔ Old PHP or cURL

Update PHP to 7.4 or above
Update cURL to a version supporting TLS 1.2+

✔ Legacy Devices

Avoid using outdated operating systems with old SSL libraries.
